Southern Classics Society is a friendly and informal, all-marque club for classic vehicle enthusiasts in the south of England

Who are we and what do we do?

The Southern Classics Society has been in existence for over 20 years and over this time has developed, using the experience of a dedicated committee chosen from the membership, as a friendly club for like minded classic car owners to get together.

Our membership is spread over the South East with the main group of members from the West Sussex area, but with members from Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and Hampshire.

We are always looking for new things of interest for our members and recently this has included 'Drive It Days', visits to car restoration companies and holding shows at different venues which have 'alternate' interests. Even our AGM's are different, being held either at places of interest, like Hollycombe Steam Museum, or Tangmere Aviation Museum, or at a venue like The Bull at Henfield.

Membership entitles you to;

- Free entry* to all our shows throughout the year (normal entry is £5 per car per show)
- Six editions of our Club Newsletter with reports, articles and entertainment
- Free ads in the Newsletter
- Priority for arranged visits
- Regular Noggin 'n Natter Meetings
- Club arranged Drive It Days
- Other Social Events (Skittles, Quiz's, BBQ's)
- Introduction to other Non-SCS Events
- Voting Rights at the AGM

* - at some shows there may be a charge applied by the sites we use, although if possible we arrange discounts for members or special arrangements. Also, once a year we ask members to pay entry to our Charity Show as all proceeds are given to our two supported Charities and believe our members want to support in this way.

Formal Shows

Each year we put on about six shows spread across the region, some are traditional classic car shows, some are located at venues which have other activities. For example, in 2016 we held one at the Weald and Downland Museum and and one within the Parade Ground at Newhaven Fort. 2016 was our 25th Annviversary and so there was even more going on including a special Anniversary BBQ which was only be available to members.

We do not have a strict definition of what 'a classic' is and lay out the field by decade groups: Pre-50's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, Moderns and Kits & Specials, so there is normally something that fits everyones idea of what a classic is. We regularly have a good display of American cars.

Prizes are awarded for winners and runners up in each group.

Additionally we invite other clubs to attend and there is an award for the best club display, in the past we have had EastSussex Morris Minors, Skoda, Ford TEC, Triumph and many others putting on a high standard of display.

Have a look at our reports page to see what they are like: 2017 Shows and Events

In addition to our show calender we have an active social calender, headed by the regular monthly 'Natter 'n Noggin's. These meeting are held at The Worlds End at Patching just off the A27 to the west of Worthing.

These are informal gatherings following the monthly committee meeting so you get the opportunity to speak to committeee members and make your view known.

There are regularly 20-30 people attending, and non-members are welcome to meet with us and get to know us.

Each year there are also other social get togethers, in 2016 there were several Drive It Days completing at places of 'classic' interest, a BBQ, a Skittles Evening and a quiz evening. At the end of every year there is the traditional Christmas Dinner which is always booked in full.
